RADON

Radon is a colourless, odourless gas that originates in soil. It's everywhere. It can concentrate in the home, usually in basements, if it seeps in through cracks, sumps, or porous building materials. If we breathe radon for a prolonged period, it can cause lung cancer. The Surgeon General in the United Sates has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. today. (Only smoking causes more lung cancer deaths.) In the U.S. homeowners MUST have a Radon test performed before a house can be sold. |
